As always we are in need of volunteers to help maintain the garden common areas and the unused plots.

Volunteers are a very important part of the garden program. Without them we wouldn't be able to have the gardens.

If you would like to volunteer  please let us know.
VOLUNTEERS

We have had alot of problems with people stealing from the gardens this year. In an effort to control the theft problem for next year we will no longer allow, walkers, dog walkers, joggers, and others who do not have gardens.

We will also be going back to using vehicle tags to identify the vehicles that do not belong.
Bender's is located on Minor Rd. in Copley. Stop by and check out their vegetable plants for your garden. Visit their website at: www.bendersfarm.com
The Garden will be closing to gardeners on October 11, 2009. Please make sure you remove all vegetables that you want to keep, stakes, plastic, string, tomato cages, etc. We will be doing garden clean-up on Saturday October 17. If you would like to help please give us a call.

This year the garden was plowed and disc by Bender's Farm Market.
This year we have a group from the First Presbyterian Church in Barberton. They are gardening 4 plots. One of the plots is being used by the church another one is being used by BACM and the last 2 are being used by local residence.

First Presbyterian is helping local low income families learn to grow their own food by sponsoring their plots.
This year we also have Boy Scout Troop 115 chartered at St. Agustine Church and Knight's of Columbus Hall. They will be growing vegetables to earn their gardening merit badge.

They will be selling the produce that they grow at the Barberton Farmers Market starting July 15th in downtown Barberton. Stop by and get some fresh pick vegetables and help support Scouting.

The produce that they are growning  will help fund the different activities that they do throughout the year.  They have a trip planned in the fall to Wright Patterson Air Force Base where they will be able to camp on the field.
